Before we get there
- Shut off the water. The main is usually in a meter box near the street, or where the line enters the house. Turn it clockwise until it stops.
- For a water heater, close the cold inlet valve on top of the tank — that alone stops most tank floods.
- If you smell gas, get everyone out first. Do not touch switches or the garage door. Call the gas utility from outside, then call us.
- Move what you can off the floor, and put towels at the doorways rather than at the leak.
- Stay on the phone if you cannot find the shutoff. Whoever answers will walk you to it.
What counts as an emergency
- Burst or leaking pipe you cannot shut off
- Sewage backing up into the house
- No water at all, anywhere in the house
- Water heater dumping its tank onto the floor
- Gas smell — call us, then call the gas company from outside
- A leak actively reaching drywall, ceiling or hardwood
What can wait until morning — and cost you less
- A single slow drain — that can wait for a scheduled visit and costs less
- A dripping tap or a running toilet
- Anything already shut off and stable (we will still come, just at normal hours)
We would rather tell you it can wait than bill you for a night call you did not need.

Do you actually answer at 2am?
Yes, and by a person. The number in the header is the same number at every hour — there is no separate emergency line to look up while you are standing in water.
Is there an after-hours charge?
No. Same flat rate at 2am on Sunday as at 10am on Tuesday. Most of this market charges a premium for after-hours work; we would rather have the customer.
How fast can you get here?
Inside the 485 loop, usually under an hour. Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Concord and the outer towns run longer at night. Whoever answers will give you a real window rather than a comforting one, and will talk you through shutting off the water while you wait.
What should I do before you arrive?
